Automatic Thoughts and Feelings


When you feel yourself getting upset or in a bad mood, write about the events, thoughts and feelings surrounding the situation.

Date/Time

Situation:                         1.  What happened           2. What thoughts or daydreams were going through your mind at the time?

Automatic Thoughts:   1. Write your automatic thoughts     2. How strongly did you believe them (1%-100%)

Feelings:                1. Write the feelings

2.  How strong was the feeling (1%-100%)

Rational Response:                  1. Reasonable thought that might contradict your automatic thought                       2. How strongly do you believe the reasonable thought?

Outcome:                   Re-rate strength of automatic thoughts and feelings (1%-100%)
